Faculty Initiatives on Teaching and Learning

Faculty members at the Institute always seek to enhance student learning using innovative teaching –learning methodologies. The discussion on the methods and techniques used by the faculty is held during monthly faculty meetings for peer-review. The details regarding initiatives taken by the faculty members are available in academic records and on website. The Institute encourages faculty members to interact with each other for redevelopment and reproduction of each other’s work. There are many such initiatives taken by the faculty members to enhance the quality of student teaching-learning process. A few examples of these initiatives are Product Mela, Teaching beyond classroom, Use of ICT applications for business planning and forecasting, News Analysis, Budget Live, Quiz sessions on Business News etc.,

1. Teaching methodology
The main teaching methodology at DRKVSRIT envisages “individual attention” to students followed by empathyand friendliness. KVSRIT believes in the principles of teaching and transact the curriculum into three parts-Course Planning, Unit Planning and daily Lesson Planning. Other techniques used forteaching the subject include experiential learning, participation through role-playing, activities andcompetitions, learning from surroundings, theme decoration and learning, pictures, cut outs, audio video etc. Parents are kept informed about their child’s performance in consonance with the abovedimensions. It automatically results into creation of two segments i.e. bright students and slowlearners; steps are taken to improve them further accordingly.

2. Product Mela
In order to accustom students with the challenges of entrepreneurship, Product Mela “VIKRAY” is celebrated at the Institute. The students run a small business for one day with a limited seed capital. Students get actual experience of planning and executing a business idea. Through this activity, students get live experience of start-up scenario.Various management

lessons like innovation, creativity, team work, crisis management are learnt with the help of experiential learning.

3. News Analysis
To help student’s link concepts of various courses with actual business situations, News analysis sessions are conducted in the class. The students read articles from magazines and analyse the article with the help of theories taught. Through this interesting way of learning, students understand how to apply concepts to real life situations. With an opportunity to test their understanding of courses taught, students develop their knowledge on business and economics and thereby enhancing their employability.

4. Budget Live
The Union Budget is a financial statement for a fiscal year. With the purpose of making students understand the Union Budget, they are given detailed inputs on components of budget, industry expectations from Budget before the announcement of the Budget and expert evaluation after the budget is announced. Students understand how the Budget is structured and how it impacts different sectors. The session begins with understanding of budget terminology, followed by a live streaming of the Hon. Finance Minister’s speech. The discussion held in the class provides the students an opportunity to comprehend the process and outcome of the Union Budget.

5. Quiz sessions on Business News
Quiz sessions is a challenge for all the budding managers who feel that they have the knowledge and expertise to withstand the storms of the professional world.

6. E- Day
In order to acquaint students with challenges of entrepreneurship, E-Day is celebrated at the campus. The students run a small business for one day with limited seed capital. Students get actual experience of planning and executing a business idea. Various management lessons like innovation, creativity, team work, crisis management are learnt with the help of experimental learning. Students get live experience of start-up scenario through this activity.

7. M- Day
Management Meet Day is conducted once in year in the campus to give Hands-on learning experiences on essential business skills needed to effectively manage and lead organizations. Through this program helps students to demonstrate effective written forms of communication and oral business presentations. M- Day help students to implement leadership skills to work effectively within diverse teams and apply best practices to solve managerial issues.

8. News Analysis
To help students, link concepts of Managerial Economics with actual business situations, News analysis sessions are conducted in the class. The students read articles from Economic Times and analyse the article with the help of theories thought. Through this interesting way of learning, students understand how to apply concepts to real life situations. With an opportunity to test their understanding of Managerial Economics, students develop their knowledge on business and economics and thereby enhancing their employability.
