ABOUT NPTEL
The primary goal of the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is to improve the quality of engineering and scientific education in the nation by generating material for undergraduate and postgraduate curricula via the use of video and web-based courses.
These courses cover university curriculum that have been authorised by AICTE. The course materials will be valuable for teacher training and will help to increase student quality. Professionals may utilise these courses to refresh their academic credentials.
Online NPTEL Certification Courses
Since December 2018, NPTEL has been granting certification on open online courses. The goal of allowing students to receive course certificates is to make them employed in the industry or to pursue a relevant higher education programme.
The characteristics are as follows:
⦁ The course registration and learning are free, however the test has a little charge.
⦁ The courses are taught by teachers from IITs, CMI, IMSc, and other institutions and last 10, 20, or 40 hours.
⦁ Every week, new lessons and tasks are made available. There is also a discussion area where students may directly connect with the faculty member.
⦁ At the completion of the course, an in-person proctored test (optional) is administered, and the student receives a certificate.
Benefits of taking an NPTEL online certification course for a student:
⦁ Students benefit from measurable outcomes.
⦁ Through assignments, students may analyse and evaluate their own progress (weekly)
⦁ Assessment on a continuous basis, as well as contact with course faculty
⦁ Discussion forum for like-minded individuals to discuss issue topics
⦁ Mentors are made available to students. To increase work possibilities, get a certificate from one of the IITs.

It is collaboration between the college and NPTEL. To further this project ahead and encourage more students across institutions to engage, NPTEL is establishing NPTEL chapters at colleges (with management consent) that will be led by a college faculty member who will serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC).

NPTEL will keep the SPOC up to speed on all of the newest NPTEL activities and provide him/her with information that he/she may share with the students. He or she may select ideal mentors for different courses who can guarantee that students are engaged in the course, present their assignments on time, and clear any issues they may have.
